Mrs. Irene Tillakaratne has donated the beautiful land of 01 acre, 02 perches, and 02 perches for the Irene Tillakaratne Women’s Nursing Home located at No. 155/1, Trackmo Junction, Tillakaratne Mawatha, Upper Imbulgoda, Imbulgoda.

It currently houses 31 resident mothers and this fully equipped women’s home consists of two residential halls, an office, an infirmary, a kitchen and an almshouse. The land is protected by a wall. The foundation stone was laid on June 3, 2006 by the then First Lady Mrs. Shiranthi Rajapakse.

Two buildings were constructed at a cost of 110 lakhs and work on one building was completed (first phase) and started on 23.06.2010. The second building (second phase) was completed and opened on Thursday, 11.08.2011 after spending about 22 lakh rupees. With the full contribution of the then honorable vice president of our society, Mr. T.M. Wilman Rodrigu, the fully equipped kitchen was built and donated.

Mr. Gamini Jayaweera was the first compiler from the beginning. He held the position of editor for many years and worked as a housing manager for a long time.

Mr. Justice of the Peace KA Upali Dharmasiri Peiris, member of the Board of Trustees of our society, and the said lady and her children built a Buddha Mandir and offered it. Mr. Kanagaraja, the owner of Colombo Sriani Restaurant, has built and donated a complete charity building with equipment in the year 2018 at a cost of 27 lakhs. Along with that, an all-night charity sermon and a charitable charity were conducted by the society.

Mr. M. G. Chandrasena, a resident of Imbulgoda, has given a piece of land to build a well and a 3 feet road to reach the well. On 11.09.2010, Mrs. Irene Thilakaratne, who donated the land to this old people’s home, passed away, and her funeral was conducted under the auspices of the society.
