Professor Kulathilaka Kumarasinghe

Prof. Kulathilaka Kumarasingheyan, an indefatigable philosopher, a great thinker, a scholar and a polymath who shines the country, was born in September 1950 in the village of Matara Navimana.

Although he was proud of Mahinda in Galle, he enrolled in Kelani University in 1969 and received his doctorate, which is considered the highest level of education.

Kiribathgoda, who was a pillar of the Board of Trustees of the Kelani Youth Buddhist Society, was awarded the “Kalyani Vibhushan” Honorary Award on April 28, 2024 at Bakmaha 2024 by that society.

Mr. PD Jotipala

Mr. Pathiranawasam Don Jotipala received his basic education at Habaraduwa Buddhist Art School. He later completed his higher education from Galle Vidyaloka College and worked in the Railway Department, Government Supply Department and the Government Gunpowder Store and retired.

After he moved to Namal, Kiribathgoda in 1968, he became a prominent figure in the national and religious affairs of the area. Kiribathgoda, Kelani Young Buddhist Society Mahara Orphanage Mr. PD Jotipala, who devoted his wealth and effort to maintain it, became its executive member and later became its vice president.

In recognition of the service of this noble social worker, he is hereby awarded the “Kalyani Vibhushan” Honorary Award by the Kelani Young Buddhist Association on 28th April 2024.

Mr. A. Abeysiriwardena

Mr. Abeysiriwardena, known throughout the country as an award-winning poet and writer, was born in 1943 in Hambantota Gonnoruwa village.

He has worked in various institutions such as National Textile Corporation, Textile Manufacturing Materials Legalized Corporation, Ceylon Mineral Sand Composite Board and is a creative person who is fond of literature and art since his school days.

He is known as a social worker and a Buddhist leader in Kelani region who has received awards such as Kivipati, Kalabhushana, Kalyana Keerthy Sri, Sri Lanka Mitra Honor Award, Ruhunu Kala Family Ruhunu Pahan Silu Award, Senior Citizen Award, Sri Rohana Padya Pradeepa Award etc.

An active member of the Kelani Cultural Council, Methumakiribathgoda has also held the positions of Life Member, Executive Member, Compiler and Vice Secretary and Vice President of the Kelani Youth Buddhist Association.

“Kalyani Vibhushan” Honor Award will be conferred by Kiribathgoda Kelani Youth Buddhist Society on 28 April 2024.

Mr. Mathurdasa Liyanage

Mr. Maturdasa Liyanage, a resident of Makola South, who is respected by all of us, is a traditional, flexible, and knowledgeable scholar who has done a valuable service to Dharma Shastra, society, and the Samma Sambuddha order by showing his skills in publishing, lecturing, analyzing, and explaining things well.

Also a productive, enlightened and active social worker. Ours is a well-rounded teacher. A retired civil servant with many years of experience.

Dr. Harischandra Wijayatunga

He is the editor of “Maha Sinhala Dictionary”, the largest dictionary in Sri Lanka, which was written by a single person for 50 years. In addition to that, he created records after records by compiling several dictionaries such as Glossary and Practical Sinhala Dictionary.

He is Dr. Harischandra Vijayatungayan, resident of Makola, Kiribathgoda. It is written at the beginning of his name.  B.Sc.Lanka, Ph.D., Kelaniya, Hela Vidyapati, Supreme Court Advocate, University of Kelani External Lecturer, former editor of Sinhala Encyclopedia. The Sinhala Buddhist is an editor of the paper.

Dr. W. D. Chandrakeerthy (Life Member)

Mr. W. D. Chandrakeerthy was a renowned doctor who worked in the early days of Kiribathgoda Hospital. A member of the Sri Lanka Medical Council, he is also a member of the Royal Medical Association of the United Kingdom.

He became a member of Kiribathgoda Kelani Youth Buddhist Society on February 22, 1966. Kelaniya Young Buddhist Society, Kiribathgoda Kelani Youth Buddhist Society awarded the “Kalyani Vibhushana” Honorary Award on April 28, 2024 to this eminent doctor, who has rendered great service to the people of Kelaniya area as well as to the society organizations.

Mr. KA Upali Dharmasiri Peiris

As a pioneer of Kiribathgoda Kelani Young Buddhist Association for more than 50 years, he served as Executive Member, Vice-Chairman and Fixed Asset Trustee Board member, Justice of the Peace KA Upali Dharmasiri Peiris Mathindun will be conferred the “Kalyani Vibhushan” Honorary Award on April 28, 2024 in recognition of his services.

Mr. S. Munasinghe

Born in 934, Mr. S. Munasinghe received his primary education at Galpamuna School. After that Palituwa got his secondary education from Gunaratana Vidyalaya.  He states that when Mr. Munasinghe came to Kiribathgoda in 1958, Mr. Jinadasa Pathinayake was working to establish a Buddhist society here.

Since then, he joined the Kiribathgoda, Kelani Young Buddhist Society and held the positions of Life Member, Compiler, Executive Member, Vice President, President, etc. He is currently the only lay patron of the society.

Justice of the Peace As. Munasinghe, who won a reputation as a great philanthropist in the Kelani area, became the first president of Kiribathgoda Sinhala Trade Association.

Mr. HD Ranawaka

Mr. Henry Dias Ranawaka was born in 1939 in Matara Uduka. Entered Telijjawila Central High School and passed the senior examination in English and Sinhala. Commerce and accounting subjects received honors. Mr. Ranawaka, who joined the National Housing Department after his education, later became the Secretary of the Housing Board.

As a tribute to his service to the society and the region by holding positions such as life member, executive member, vice president, Compiler of Religious Section and Treasurer etc., he will be awarded the “Kalyani Vibhushan” honorary award by the Kelani Young Buddhist Society on April 28, 2024.

Mr. MB Ratnayake

In 1962, Kaviraj Siddhayurveda graduated from Siddhayurveda College, Gampaha, and in 1979, he received the degree of Dr. Shiromani Pandita.

A Senior Lecturer, Acting Principal of the College of Ayurveda, and also the Chairman of the Governing Council of the College, engaged in a wide-ranging mission and bequeathed many valuable books related to Ayurveda and local medicine to the society.

“Kalyani Vibhushan” Honorary Award will be conferred on April 28, 2024 by the Kelani Young Buddhist Society to Dr. Vaidayacharya Vaidya Shiromani Pandita M. B. Ratnayake Vedandaruthuma, who has received many special honors.

Mr. Willman Rodrigo

Born in Makola in April 1934, Mr. Wilman Rodrigoo can be called a businessman from the early days of Kiribathgoda. There is hardly anyone in Siane Korale who does not know about the Jayasiri Hotel in Kiribathgoda.

He started this hotel in 1957 with a monthly rent of Rs.60.00. The name Jayasiri came from the idea of Jaya + Shri. Indeed, he has won today. Mr. Willman Rodrigoo owns four shops in Kiribathgoda.

When the Kiribathgoda Kelani Young Buddhist Society started in 1958, he was a part of providing cement to build it, and he was one of the first members.

Habaragamuwa Don Vijayasiri Perera

Mr. Wijayasiri Perera of Habaragamuwa, who held positions like Journalist, Writer, Editor, Revenue Control Officer (DRO), Senior Assistant Secretary, Additional Secretary, was a graduate of Vidyodaya University.

He, who held the positions of Marketing Development Commissioner, Director General, suggested the government to establish a standards agency. (2023) held the position of President of Kelani Young Buddhist Society.

He was awarded the Kalyana Vibhushan Award by the Kelani Young Buddhist Society on April 28, 2024.
